The WordPress roadmap lists version 7.2 for 10 December 2026. Multilingual support in its core is planned, with no date yet.

WordPress, the software behind about four websites in ten, has its next release on the calendar. Running one site in several languages is still left to plugins.

What the roadmap says

The official WordPress roadmap lists WordPress 7.2 for 10 December 2026, a date it describes as a projection for rough planning.

The same page sets out the four phases of the Gutenberg project. The fourth is Multilingual, described as a core implementation for multilingual sites. No release or date is given for it.

Until then

A WordPress site in several languages relies on a plugin for it, such as WPML or Polylang.

Languages are part of the platform. A site can be written in eight languages, Arabic and the other right-to-left scripts included, each with its own menus and pages, from the same control panel.
