Cookies

Version 1.0 — 24 August 2026. A cookie is a small piece of text a site asks your browser to keep and to hand back on your next request. This page lists every one this site uses, what it is for, and how long it lasts. There are no others.

What we ask you before we set any

The first time you arrive, a notice asks whether you accept cookies that are not strictly necessary. Until you answer, none of them is set — not one. If you refuse, none of them is ever set and the site works exactly as it did, minus our counting of readers.

You may change your answer whenever you like: ask me again.

The ones we cannot do without

These are set whatever you answer, because without them the thing you asked for cannot happen. They carry no advertising and are read by nobody outside this site.

• uc_consent — your answer to the notice itself. Kept twelve months, so we do not ask again on every page. Refusing cookies still leaves this one, because remembering a refusal is the only way to honour it.
• uc_session — made when you sign in and gone when you sign out. It is what keeps you signed in from one page to the next, and it is readable only by the server.
• uc_cart — the basket you are filling, so it survives a reload and a change of page. It goes when the basket is emptied or the order is placed.
• uc_currency — which currency you chose to see prices in. It holds a currency code and nothing else.

The one we ask about

• uc_visitor — statistics. A random number that tells one browser from another so a single reader is not counted twice, kept twelve months. It carries no name, no address and no email, it is readable only by the server, and it is not used for advertising and never handed to anybody. It is set only if you accept. If you refuse, the visit is not recorded at all — no cookie and no row.

Companies other than us

The ordinary pages of this site load nothing from anywhere else: no analytics service, no font service, no delivery network, no embedded video. Nobody outside this site is told that you were here.

The one exception is paying. When you reach the payment panel, the payment gateway's own script is loaded from the gateway so that your card details go to them and never to us. That script is theirs and may set cookies of its own under their rules, which we do not control:

• Mercado Pago, where the card form is shown on our page.
• PayPal, where paying takes you to their own page.

This happens only if you go as far as the payment panel, and not before.

Your browser can do it too

Every browser can show you the cookies a site has set, delete them, and refuse new ones. Deleting uc_consent makes the notice appear again; deleting uc_session signs you out.
