Selling online is no longer something a website adds later. The latest figures from W3Techs show how many sites are built around a shop from the first day.
The figures
W3Techs, which surveys the software behind the web's websites, gives these shares of all websites on 3 November 2026:
- WordPress: 39.5%
- Shopify: 5.3%
- Wix: 4.2%
- Squarespace: 2.4%
Shopify is a platform made for online stores. More than one website in twenty now runs on it.
What it says
Many businesses now want a website that can take an order and a payment from the start, not a brochure that needs a shop bolted on later.
On UniSoftCo the online store and the accounting that records each sale are already part of the platform. You switch them on from your control panel; there is nothing else to install.
