Links to websites will appear higher, more often and with pictures in AI Mode and AI Overviews, Google announced on 15 October.

When Google answers a question with AI, it now does more to send the reader on to the websites behind the answer.

What changes

In a post on its blog on 15 October 2026, Google's Hema Budaraju, Vice President of Product Management, listed the changes coming to AI Mode and AI Overviews:

  • Links inside the answer will appear more often and higher up.
  • The links at the end of some answers get picture thumbnails and a design that is easier to click.
  • Carousels of timely articles, with the reader's Preferred Sources, reach more countries and languages.
  • Google is testing a section at the top of answers that points to the official website for a task, with a note on why each link is useful.
  • Also in testing: creator and publisher names on video results become links to their profiles.

What it means for your site

An answer written by AI still needs sources, and Google is making those sources easier to reach. A site has a better chance of being one of them when its pages are clear, each one about a single thing, with a real picture and a title that says what the page is.

Every site on UniSoftCo is built on the server, so its pages arrive ready to read, for people and for search engines alike.
