Google refreshes its guidance on AI-assisted content

Writing with the help of AI is allowed in Google Search. What Google asks is that a person checks the work before it is published.
What changed
On 1 October 2026 Google Search Central updated its guide on using generative AI content with information from its Search Quality Rater guidelines.
What the guide asks
- AI can help research a subject and give structure to original content.
- Check the facts and review everything AI writes before it is published, including titles, descriptions, structured data and the text that describes each picture.
- Where it helps the reader, say how the content was made.
- Making many pages with AI that add nothing for the reader can break Google's policy on scaled content abuse.
The rater guidelines describe how Google's human raters judge quality. They are not a ranking guide, and their scores do not change rankings directly.

The Article Wire drafts stories for your site from the sources you choose, and can keep each one waiting until an editor reads it and accepts it. That is the review step Google's guide asks for.
