Reading the Numbers

Reading the NumbersUniSoftCo

Three screens that all look like figures about your site, and each answers a different question.

The dashboard, the statistics screen and the visitors screen are easy to confuse and are not interchangeable.

The dashboard is today

What changed, what is waiting for you, and how fast the site is. It is the screen to open first thing and close again — anything on it that needs acting on is one press away from the screen that acts.

Statistics is what the site HOLDS

How many articles, products, companies, advertisements, invoices. Each addon reports its own counts through the same seam, so an addon bought tomorrow appears here without a line changing anywhere in the core.

Every figure is a count and never an amount, and that is deliberate: money formatted on the server would carry the server's language and its currency, and the whole of this panel's number work was to stop exactly that. So it says how many customers owe you, and the amount is one press away on a screen that can draw it in your language.

Visitors is who CAME

One row per visit, with the browser, the device, the country and whether it was a crawler — measured, not estimated. Beside the laboratory speed scores you also get the real Core Web Vitals reported by your own readers' browsers, which is the only speed number that describes your actual audience on their actual telephones.
